How Random Generation Works
Each set is drawn with a partial Fisher–Yates shuffle over the number pool, so every
combination is equally likely. Randomness comes from
crypto.getRandomValues()
, the browser's cryptographic random source, with rejection sampling to avoid modulo
bias. Generation happens entirely on your device — no numbers are sent anywhere.
What this tool does not do matters more: it does not analyze past drawings, it has no hot or cold numbers, and it cannot predict anything. A random set and a hand-picked set have exactly the same chance in the next drawing.
How We Calculate

Start with the selected lottery amount. Enter the advertised jackpot and the cash option (or choose the annuity to estimate one annual payment).

Determine the cash or taxable amount. For a lump sum, the cash option is the taxable amount. For an annuity, each annual payment is taxed in the year it is received.

Apply applicable federal tax rules. Lottery winnings are taxed as ordinary income. The calculator subtracts the standard deduction for your filing status, then applies that year's progressive federal tax brackets.

Apply applicable state rules. The calculator applies the state's configured planning rate. States that do not tax lottery winnings show $0 state tax. Local and city taxes are not included.

Calculate estimated total tax. Estimated federal and state taxes are added together for the total estimated tax liability.

Calculate estimated take-home amount. Estimated total tax is subtracted from the taxable amount. This is an estimate of final liability — withholding shown separately is what may be held back when you are paid, and it is credited against this liability.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do randomly generated numbers improve my odds of winning?
No. Every possible combination has exactly the same probability in every drawing. Random generation only picks combinations for you — it does not change the mathematics. These numbers are randomly generated for entertainment and convenience. Randomly generated numbers do not improve the mathematical odds of winning and cannot predict future winning numbers.
How are the numbers generated?
In your browser, using crypto.getRandomValues() — the browser's cryptographic random source — with rejection sampling so every number in the pool is equally likely. Nothing is sent to any server, and no account is needed.
Are generated numbers better than numbers I pick myself?
Neither is better. Your birthday numbers, a Quick Pick, and this generator all face identical odds for the same game. The only thing that changes your chance of winning is how many distinct combinations your tickets cover.
Can the generator predict future winning numbers?
No. Lottery drawings are independent events — past results do not influence future ones. There is no hot, cold, or 'due' number, and no tool here analyzes historical draws or predicts anything.
Will I get duplicate sets?
By default, 'Avoid duplicate combinations across sets' is on, so every set in one generation is unique. You can turn it off if you want fully independent draws, which may occasionally repeat a combination.
What happens if I request more sets than mathematically possible?
The generator counts the total possible combinations first (using the same combination math as the odds calculator). If you ask for more unique sets than exist, it stops with the message 'Please choose a smaller number of combinations.'
Is my generation history saved or sent anywhere?
No. History lives only in your browser's memory for this session (the last 20 sets), is never sent to a server, and disappears when you leave or refresh the page.
